RED FROG BEACH
$80 boat transportation + $10 hour the captain stay + 7% de impuestos
Located on Isla Bastimentos, Red Frog Beach is a wonderfully mellow white-sand beach. Red Frog is backed by portions of thick rainforest which extend in some places all the way to the water, creating secluded alcoves that are perfect for couples or families who would like a bit of privacy.
The sea here tends to be rough, making for less than ideal swimming conditions. However, a far-reaching sandbar ten meters off-shore creates a calmer area with restaurants and bars.
Not surprisingly, Red Frog Beach is one of the best places in Panama to catch site of the amphibian for which the beach is named. These poison-dart frogs are both beautiful and rare, but with the right pair of eyes (or the help of your captain), you may be able to spot one hiding beneath the leaves or sitting on a tree.
You reach the beach by a well-maintained jungle path and on the way you can see a tons of wildlife (sloth, caimans, red frogs, monkeys...).
IMPORTANT: There is a $5 fee to pay at the entrance as it's located in the national park
POLO BEACH
$100 per person + 7% taxes
Polo Beach on Isla Bastimentos is named after the old man Polo who has lived in a shack on the beach for over 50
years selling fish and lobster plates to the occasional passerby. This area is less popular with tourists as it is farther
away and harder to get to, which makes it all the more desirable for a day trip!
Polo Beach is protected from the open ocean by a barrier reef that stretches out over 50 meters from the shore. This makes the water directly in front of the beach perpetually calm and good for snorkeling.
MONKEY ISLAND
$20 per person (to pay there) +$80 boat transportation + 7% taxes
Monkey Island is a rescue center where you can interact with monkeys that are used to humans.
These monkeys can't go back to the wild so live on this private island with Francine who will tell you everything about them!
