The Belize’s barrier reef, the second-longest in the world loves to show off its finery year-round. Awe-inspiring corals sprawl across reef surfaces, and since the government and environmental groups are protective of the 180-mile-long reef system, you could meet more than 25 species of fish when you dive.
Ray Caye Resort is not just breathtakingly beautiful, but guests find snorkeling paradise literally steps from their lush accommodations. Located so close to the nearby Gladden Spit, considered the epicenter of snorkeling heaven, it takes just minutes to get there.
Set off on a boat. Stand on the Ray Caye pier. It matters not where you position yourself because fish are everywhere, and while the name of the game is “catch and release” on the island, you can enjoy your fill of excitement by taking tours that deliver you to Belize’s Great Barrier Reef or flats for a variety of fishing excursions that test your mettle and give you bragging rights you’ll never find back home.
For paddle board enthusiasts and wannabes, absolutely nothing surpasses the feeling of taking control of a simple board to explore the environs of Ray Caye. Staff is happy to provide one or more, if you like boarding with a buddy, so don’t hesitate to request one during your stay.

Explore the trails with your newest companion who’s rearing and ready to go. Horseback riding is excellent for riders of all ages and experience levels. Let your guide know what you’re comfortable with, and he’ll be sure to teach you how to have a steady and safe ride. Your horse is already familiar with the jungle trails that she’ll take you through so just hold tight and look forward to the ride. You’ll cross two creeks so your horse can stop and take a drink and enter a clearing where you can walk, trot, or canter – whatever your preference may be.
This tour begins with a 10-minute drive up the scenic Hummingbird Highway to the Blue Hole National Park. Your guide will lead you through a 10-minute hike through the jungle to the entrance of St. Herman’s Cave. Enter the exciting world of rivers disappearing into the underworld as you float on inner tubes with only your headlamp to light your way. Enjoy floating past side windows that filter the jungle light through the mist as you swirl around stalagmites jutting from the river and stalactites looming from above.
There’s no better way to explore the diverse ecosystems of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve than a bike tour. Guided bike trips will take you on scenic routes and trails around the Reserve. Check with the Concierge to discuss departure times, difficulty, terrain, and desired length of trip.
